A High Level Overview by Minex Mining Company

Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL) 264, Embu County, Kenya:

Members of Minex Mining Company made this discovery as early as 2005 through numerous geological expeditions based on academic knowledge and methodologies. This yielded six Mining Location licenses (all still valid) and eventually the registration of EPL 264 with the Government.

Besides coltan, the company has evidence of quartz, amazonite, beryl, rare earth elements (REE), and other industrial minerals. These minerals were identified using geochemical analyses employing AAS, XRF, and XRD in local laboratories, subsequently confirmed at Actlabs, a certified laboratory in Canada.

Minex Mining Company also purchased and holds title deeds on over 300 acres of land holding the most significant deposits identified to date.

EPL 264: Embu County, Kenya

This EPL covers an area of approximately 200 km² in Eastern Province, Kenya. It was granted in 2012. Prior to 2005, the identified minerals in these pegmatite formations included beryl-based gemstones, quartz, garnets, amazonite, and industrial minerals like mica schists and feldspars. Around 2005, evidence of columbite and tantalite (coltan) was identified. This area includes many artisanal mining operations that have been active for decades.

The area is close to three major hydroelectric power plants (Kamburu, Kiambere, and Masinga Dams), with the closest being only about 16 km away and connected by all-weather roads. Embu County has a population of 608,599 people (2019 census), including busy metropolitan towns and infrastructure like a university and hospitals.

Geological Studies and Findings

Minex Mining Company commissioned a first geological study to better understand the mineral content in EPL 264 using geochemical analysis and ASTER image analysis. Besides coltan, the company has evidence of quartz, mica, amazonite, beryl, and rare earth elements (REE). These minerals were confirmed in local laboratories using advanced techniques like AAS, XRF, and XRD, with further confirmation at a Canadian certified laboratory.

A second detailed report commissioned in 2018 revealed evidence of tungsten, molybdenum, gold, and platinum in the area. The report concluded that the region has significant mineralisation with great economic potential.
